Frequently asked questions
How do we book you ?

I like to keep this really easy for you. You can fill in the contact form on my contact page here, I will then get back to you very soon. If I am available on your day a booking fee of £150 secures the date. Any balance due is just 14 days prior to the date you get married. Alternatively feel free to email, call, whats app, text or send a carrier pigeon. Which ever method you choose the booking process is nice and easy.

What is your photography style?

My style is predominantly candid and natural combined with a creative twist. My aim always is to tell the story of your day via the photos I capture for you. Lean more about my style and approach here

Do you offer engagement sessions as part of your packages?

I highly recommend an engagement shoot as a way to not only get some lovely images but to also give a feel for being in front of my camera and to make you feel far more relaxed come your wedding day. Read more about this in my blog here.
I do however appreciate that an engagement shoot is not for everyone so rather than build it into my packages I offer this at a very reasonable rate to bolt onto any package if you fancy going for it. Please see my pricing page for details.

How many weddings do you typically shoot in a day or weekend?

I only ever shoot one wedding in a day. At times I may shoot two weddings over the same weekend. I would never compromise my approach or quality or quality of service and am always 100% committed to each and every wedding.

Can we provide a shot list or specific photo requests?

Absolutely YES. I will discuss group shots with you during our lead up to your wedding. I will give some recommendations about this and I actually request from you a list of any desired group shots. I bring this on the day and rope in a willing guest to help "round up" people - its amazing how this can speed up the whole process.

How soon will we receive our edited wedding photos and in what format?

I say within six weeks. Often you will receive them faster than this. Images are delivered via a beautiful private online gallery as high resolution jpeg files...perfect for printing. You gallery also give you the option to download smaller resolution images if you wish which are perfect for "the gram" and sharing on any other social media platform.

Do you have backup equipment and what is your contingency plan for unexpected issues?

This is a no brainer for me and YES I always have backup equipment with me. In the event of adverse weather I am fully equipped do move formal shots indoors if necessary and utilise my knowledge and experience of off camera lighting to ensure all goes to plan. I am fully insured and have a very rigorous backup workflow to protect the integrity of all images I capture. Though I have never missed a wedding yet due to illness I do have contingencies in place if this were ever to happen. I am part of several local and national supplier networks and have access to plenty of other professional wedding photographers whom I could call upon if required.

Are you familiar with our venue or do you visit beforehand?

So my answer to this is always, I don't shoot venues I shoot people. By this I am referring to the fact that it's the people who make a wedding more so than the location. I actually love shooting at new venues as it allows me to approach with fresh creative eyes. If I am shooting at a new venue I will always ensure that I arrive earlier than I need to in order to fully scout out the venue and surrounding location.

Can we see a full gallery of a recent "real" wedding that you've shot?

Simply ... YES. I am more than happy so share some real wedding galleries to show not only the quality and style of my work but to also give a feel for what your online gallery would look like. I actually recommend that couples ask this of any wedding photographer when they are doing their research.

How far in advance should we book you?

Whilst there is no right or wrong here I do advise booking as soon as you can in your wedding planning journey. Key dates can fill up very fast. After the venue and celebrant/registrar/vicar etc. I would say most people tend to book their photographer next to secure the date. Once these "big" things have been booked you can enjoy the rest of the planning. Get in touch here to book.

I don't like having my photo taken. What do you advise?

Most people ( myself included) are not overtly confident or comfortable in front of a camera. I work in such a way that I put you at ease in order to get you relaxed and at your best. My aim is to photograph you being you, not feeling or looking awkward. If I need to I employ some little tactics to help you chill and almost forget I am there pointing my camera at you. By the end of the day you wont even notice the camera.

Which areas do you cover ?

As a North Yorkshire wedding photographer I do not limit myself to just North Yorkshire. I cover the whole of the North East and indeed any location. For destinations further afield there will likely be an additional cost but I am MORE than willing to travel to wherever I need to in order to document your wedding.
